Descripción : The aim of this research to analyze betahydroxybutyrate and blood urea nitrogen of a dairy herd and its relationship with production. The investigation finished out at the hacienda Alelí in the province of Tungurahua, canton Pillaro, 10 Holstein Friesian mestizo cows were used in production from which blood samples were extracted from the caudal vein and sent to the laboratory, by means of trow FreeStyle Optimum β-Ketone analysed, the concentration of ketone bodies (betahydroxybutyrate) was analyzed, determining that the animals are negative to ketosis and presented a positive energy balance. The blood urea nitrogen to determine levels of (BUN by Blood Urea Nitrogen) like metabolite that allows to determine if the relation energy / protein is correct, and its incidence on the productive parameters by means of the Colorimetric Enzymatic technique, determined the Daily half gain with measurements of weight weekly with metric bovine strip, determined that animals win weight of 0.1 to 0.6 kg / day. It evaluated the quality physical chemistry and sanitary of the bovine raw milk of the dairy herd with the LactoStar equipment. Showing that the feeding to base of pasture fulfils with the requests of maintenance, gain of weight adapted and the production of the herd is of, (18 liters). A descriptive statistic was used to establish the mean and standard error of the individuality of the animals with a t-test for a parameter with the INFOSTAT system. It was concluded that pasture-based feeding in 100% allows to obtain animals that are maintained, produce a high level of milk and gain weight without affecting metabolic problems, taking into account high levels of nutrients provided by the grass being available and sufficient for the animal, what shows with the factors in study of the present project.
