The research evaluated different concentrations of Beauveria bassiana for the control of the corn weevil (Sitophilus zeamais) in stored corn grains under controlled conditions to determine the lethal concentration and be applied as an alternative to control this pest insect and thus be able to reduce the production losses in postharvest handling during storage. The investigation began with a field trip to capture insects infected with entomopathogenic fungi, then isolation and monosporic cultures were carried out to identify the genus and species of the fungus; finally, the multiplication of this fungus was carried out. Next, suspensions were made at different concentrations by counting conidia; and, ultimately, the application of the concentrations of Beauveria bassiana according to the proposed experimental design. The implementation of this research was carried out in the Agronomy Laboratory of the Technical University of Cotopaxi, applying a randomized complete block design (DBCA) with a factorial arrangement of A x B, including the control, with three repetitions, where the factor A corresponds to (native and commercial Beauveria), factor B corresponds to the concentrations (104, 105, 106, 107, 108). The variables under study were the percentage of mortality, damaged grains, and grain weight loss. These variables were normalized and analyzed in the InfoStat program, obtaining the following results: the mortality percentage of native Beauveria with a lethal concentration of 7.42 x 108 conidia /ml (T5) that reached 100%, being the highest in comparison with the control (T13) in which he obtained 0%. Regarding the percentage variable of damaged grains, it was observed that the best treatment is native Beauveria with a concentration of 108 (T5), obtaining 25% of damaged grains, being the lowest percentage compared to the control (T13), which registered 80% of damaged grains. The percentage of grain weight loss determined that the best treatment, T5 (native Beauveria with a concentration of 108), obtained 29.7% weight loss, being the lowest percentage for this variable; compared to the control (T13) that presented the highest percentage in weight loss, reaching 82.9%.es_ES
