    “Análisis y mejoramiento de la calidad de energía en la empresa TOPAC.”

    TOPAC enterprise, it dedicated in the egg cartons manufacture, it faces significant challenges in the quality its electrical system, it influenced in part by the hydropulper motor, what switches off and on every 15 minutes, generating current peaks. Further, the enterprise's high reagent consumption aggravates the situation. This research work has as main objective to analyze the status from TOPAC electrical system, by collecting and assessing electrical parameters got with a FLUKE 435-II network analyzer. Through an exhaustive analysis from national and international standard, they were identified several deficiencies in the system, by highlighting it a 0.75 low power factor, voltage levels outside the permitted ranges, and the harmonics presence, which affect the electrical supply stability. Although some indices as the THD comply with IEEE-519 and ARCERNNR 002/20 normative, they are required immediate attention in other areas. For mitigating these problems, it was proposed the installation an automatic capacitor bank, it composed 5 steps 5 kVAr, with the aim by raising the power factor from 0.75 to 0.97. Currently, TOPAC faces monthly penalties imposed by the electric ELEPCO S.A. enterprise, due to this deficiency. The necessary total investment for the solution amounts to $ 3438.50, with a projected return on investment 7 months and 20 days. This measure will not only eliminate the penalties, but will also optimize energy efficiency and ensure operational stability at TOPAC.
