A severe consequence is that the animals do not consume significant amounts of feed. Therefore, milk production is affected, reducing the profitability of dairy farming, as expenses may outweigh profits. For this reason, the objective of the study was the evaluation and improvement of the selection index in a sustainable genetic improvement program for dairy cattle in the Joseguango Bajo parish during the 2024 period. The present study was of a descriptive research nature, observational in type, with a quantitative approach. The data collected in this project were focused on production, specifically in dairy cattle, and the indicators evaluated included production, milk density, weight gain, and mastitis. Regarding milk production, we have an average of 27 liters/day, with a lactation response of 3026 liters/day/lactation, aiming to reach the goal of 5000 liters/day/lactation in three generations. For milk density, we obtained an average of 1.022 g/ml, so these numbers, being within the required ranges, can improve the quantity of solids in the milk. The study recorded an average height3 of 125 cm at the withers, which is quite manageable; however, to achieve the goal, it is necessary to select smaller-sized males. Correlation analysis showed that there is no clear correlation between production and profitability in terms of benefits.
