- Item“Reading estrategies for efl classroom”(Ecuador : Pujilí : Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC), 2024-08) Cardenas Yuxi, Heidy Eslendi; Andrade Morán, José IgnacioThe present study entitled “READING STRATEGIES FOR THE EFL CLASSROOM” focuses on the development of reading skills, seen as an active strategy and procedure in which readers use a variety of reading strategies to construct a description from written material in English as a foreign language. The main objective of this research was to identify strategies to improve the reading skills of second-level A1.2 students of the Technical University of Cotopaxi, Campus-Pujilí in the academic period April - August 2024. A descriptive qualitative methodology was used and the participants were 30 students, who answered a 30-question Cambridge structured questionnaire and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data obtained. In addition, two groups of students from the second level were selected, 15 students belonged to the experimental group and 15 were part of the control group, to whom a pre and post-test was applied before and after using the proposal. The results obtained in comparison with the control group and the experimental group based on the post-test were higher than the points obtained by the control group. Thus, it was evident that the experimental group improved reading comprehension through the reading strategies taught because they obtained an increase of more than 23 points in the scores obtained in the post-evaluation.
