    This paper presents a study on risk management in Ecuador’s financial institutions. Risk management is a key factor in assessing the overall stability and sustainability of the banking sector. Globally, banks face numerous challenges related to risk exposure that can negatively impact their reputation and operations. Therefore, continuous monitoring of key indicators is essential for mitigating risk exposure. We examined the relationship between financial indicators—specifically, the loan portfolio and deposits held by each bank—using monthly data. Banks were segmented according to their size classification under the Ecuadorian regulatory framework. This analysis was then expanded to assess how the Ecuadorian financial sector manages credit risk by bank size.
