- ItemRespuesta agronómica de la fertilización potásica en el cultivo de maíz (Zea mays).(Ecuador : La Maná Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC), 2024-08) Cruz Nieves, Evelyn Elizabeth; Zambrano Verdesoto, Karla Katherine; Espinosa Cunuhay, Kleber AugustoThe research was carried out in El Toquillal sector, La Maná Canton, Cotopaxi Province with a duration of 120 days. The main objective of the research was to evaluate the agronomic response of potassium fertilization in corn crop (Zea mays). A completely randomized block design (CRBD) was used in the project with six treatments and five repetitions. The following variables were used: plant height (cm), cob length (cm), cob diameter (cm), shelling index, cob weight per treatment (kg), and yield (kg/ha). Each of the variables were subjected to the analysis of variance in order to determine the means that exist in the treatments, for that reason a Tukey test was applied at 5% of probability. The best treatment was T6 180 kg/ha-1 in plant height (202.95 cm), loading height (99.15 cm), cob diameter (44.73 mm), shelling index (629 g), cob weight per treatment (7.31 kg), and yield (9745 kg/ha). Based on the obtained results, it was determined that potassium is one of the essential nutrients for corn production, in addition, it provides greater resistance to the stems. Also, it helps to preserve the structure that supports the cob in a better way. According to the economic analysis, the best treatment was T6 180 kg/ha-1 with a total cost of $937,10, a production of 9745 kg, a net profit of $719,55, and a profitability of 77%.
