It has a diversity of natural and cultural attractions that attract the attention of national and foreign tourists, which represents economic income for its inhabitants through tourism development. However, there is a lack of knowledge of the existing tourist attractions. The objective of this research project was to analyze the tourism potential of the Pangua canton as a contribution to the tourism development of the province of Cotopaxi, where three specific objectives were raised, the first objective is to update the inventory of tourist attractions, it was carried out through the bibliographic review of two research documents such as: Tourism development plan for the Pangua canton, Cotopaxi Province where 22 attractions are shown and in the PDOT 28 attractions are evident in the canton and this also served to take necessary information, later to update the inventory, the techniques of filling out hierarchy cards through the check list were applied taking into consideration the last update of the inventory in 2021 and the evaluation of tourist attractions, as well as for the second objective, the Sandoval 2006 potential evaluation methodologies were used. A survey was also developed that serves to determine the SWOT analysis using the MEFE, MEFI matrices, in order to see the strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, threats, and internal and external factors. external, as a result the main parish of El Corazón and Moraspungo have a high level of tourism potential. Finally, for the third objective “Prepare a proposal for an academic article in the format of the RENPYS magazine” the information was adapted to the specific publication model following the structure of the magazine in an orderly manner. This will serve as a contribution tool for future academic research.
