    Evaluación del efecto analgésico posquirúrgico del aceite de Cannabis versus meloxicam (0,15%) en gatas ovariohisterectomizadas.

    The objective of this research project was to determine, using the Feline Grimace Scale, whether CBD oil has analgesic effects that are apparently similar to those of meloxicam (0.15%). Twenty-four feline patients, aged between 6 months and 2 years, were the test subjects. After gathering relevant information on the use of CBD in felines, they were divided into two groups (CBD group and MELOXICAM group). The first group was administered a dose of 2mg/kg of 12% CBD oil sublingually after a midline OVH surgery, while the remaining 12 were given a single dose of 0.3mg/kg meloxicam (Splend brand, dropper). After one hour, each patient was scored using the Feline Grimace Scale to provide a numerical value representing the amount of pain they were experiencing. The results showed that although most patients in the CBD group did not require rescue analgesia, there is still a high percentage of patients who apparently do not respond to the oil due to multiple factors not yet described in the literature. Nevertheless, it remains a viable alternative if we aim to preserve the renal health of our feline patients.
