- ItemPrevalencia de mycoplasmosis en cerdos de traspatio en los cantones Pujilí, Sigchos y Saquisilí.(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC)., 2024-08) Chico Martínez, Damaris Aracelly; Guamán Guamán, Ana Lucía; Andrade Aulestia, Patricia MarcelaA study was done to determinate the prevalence of mycoplasmosis in backyard pigs in the cantons Pujilí, Sigchos and Saquisilí, from Cotopaxi province, Ecuador. This study had as objective describe the prevalence of this microorganism that affects to the pigs in the three cantons and analyze the influence of predisposing factors to the disease among the positive cases, in order to demonstrate the prevalence through an epidemiological map. An observational study with the analytical method was used. The process was carried out with a sample of 310 animals: 105 in Pujilí, 105 in Sigchos and 100 in Saquisilí. This study was made through the Indirect technique ELISA, using blood serum, making use of IDEXX M. hyo kit. The methodology described in the manufacturer's instructions was followed and the samples were processed. In Pujilí canton was registered a prevalence of 100%, in Sigchos canton was found a prevalence of 99% and in Saquisilí canton reported a prevalence of 91%. The predisposing factors such as sex and age were compared, also, they were classified according to the categories of piglets, rearing, growth, termination, and breeding, also, include health factors such as vaccination and deworming. In the end, it wasn’t found a significant relationship. However, the feeding factors are classified in balanced, waste and mixed as well as the type of structure (corral or outdoors) demonstrated an influence on the positive cases of the disease, according to the Chi square analysis. Finally, an epidemiological map of each canton was made, this permitted identify the most vulnerable areas to Mycoplasma hyo. .
