    “Análisis de descargas parciales en conductores de media tensión para la evaluación del estado del conductor pre-instalación”

    Nowadays, the need to maintain high levels of reliability and continuity in the electrical supply is a topic of great importance in society. Conductors are among the elements most prone to causing complications in the system, particularly in insulation. Therefore, the project carried out in the province of Orellana in the oil sector presents the process for offline partial discharge (PD) analysis in 35kV XLPE medium-voltage monopolar conductors prior to their installation. It is important to note that the three conductors have previously been used; hence, the purpose of the study is to evaluate the integrity of their insulation using the Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) method for locating PDs along the cable. The type of pattern (internal, surface, or corona PD) was identified through graphs and quantitative data provided by the BAUR SW4 software, along with the timing parameters and PD acceptance levels standardized by IEEE 400.3-2022. These tests helped determine the effectiveness and integrity of the cable insulation before installation.
