    Prevalencia de giardia spp en perros del cantón La Maná.

    The present study was carried out in the canton of La Mana based on the study of the prevalence of Giardia spp. This pathology significantly affects the digestive system of canines and humans making it a problem of public importance. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of Giardia spp. in canines in the canton of La Mana, the methodology used was simple randomized where 150 samples of fresh feces were specifically collected from each of the animals analyzed, the survey technique was applied to collect information about the canines, the sample was performed by the SNAP test method of Giardia spp, which is an immunochromatography test, whose result is a rapid test, verifying the presence of this protozoan in the canine. The total number of positive cases of Giardia spp for this was only 1 case, found in the parish of Pucayacu being 0.67% of the positive cases, the data obtained were represented in the epidemiological map. The risk factors that were analyzed were sex, age, number of animals, deworming, water change, environment, resulting in the positive case.
