- ItemProducción de pepino (Cucumis sativus L.) con la aplicación de compost a base de estiércol bovino y residuos vegetales del mercado central La Maná.(Ecuador : La Maná Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC), 2024-08) Jimenez Tuarez, Katherine Gissella; Toapanta Vasconez, Marco; Macías Pettao, Ramón KleverThis research was conducted in the “Mercedes del Norte” neighborhood in El Carmen Parish, La Maná Canton. The aim was "the evaluation of the cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) with the application of compost based on bovine manure and vegetable waste from the central market of La Maná". To achieve this, an experimental split-plot design was implemented, with 12 treatments and 3 blocks, arranged in an A x B factorial scheme, where factor A corresponded to the varieties and factor B to the applied composts. The most notable results were achieved with treatment T5: Humocaro with the application of 50 kg of vegetable compost plus 150 kg of manure, which stood out in the variables of days to flowering with 28 days, fruit weight with 423 and 393.73 g, polar diameter with 23.03 and 22.53 cm, and equatorial diameter with 5.80 and 8.04 mm. This was followed by treatment T2: Humocaro plus 200 kg of vegetable compost, which excelled in the variables of fruits per plant with an average of 8 and 9 fruits per plant, yield of 22,406.96 kg/ha, as well as the economic analysis with a cost-benefit ratio of 3.04 and a profitability of 304.29%. Meanwhile, the control treatments showed the lowest results in some variables, with the Dasher II variety obtaining the poorest results.
