    Prevalencia de micoplasmosis en aves de traspatio en el cantón Latacunga y Saquisilí.

    This study centered on understanding how common avian mycoplasmosis is aimid backyard birds in Latacunga and Saquisilí, two cantons in Cotopaxi - Ecuador. In others words, the avian mycoplasmosis is a sickness that primarily affects the upper respiratory system of birds, chief to significant illness and death. Moreover, for poultry farmers this sickness causes sizeable economic losses, because it reduces the productivity of their birds. Likewise, 230 blood samples were collected from birds in different parishes in the two cantons, randomly selecting them to ensure broad coverage. Furthermore, the authors was used an ELISA test to detect Mycoplasma gallisepticum the bacteria in charge of for the disease. As well as, this findings revealed that 8.70% of the samples from Latacunga, and 9.57% from Saquisilí tested positive with no significant differences between the two areas. In fact, the concerning the correlation the statistical method used showed, that the presence of mycoplasmosis gallisepticum has no correlation with the sex of the birds studied. Also, which was a predisposing element considered in the surveys accomplish in the sectors evaluated within the research demonstrated the female birds were more likely to be infected than males. Last but not least, this research provides relevant information on the occurrence of mycoplasmosis in backyard birds and emphasizes the need for effective disease management in these communities.
