- ItemPrevalencia de bronquitis infecciosa en aves de traspatio en el cantón Saquisilí, provincia de Cotopaxi.(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC)., 2024-08) Llumipanta Guanin, Jasmin Estefania; Andrade Aulestia, Patricia MarcelaThe present research was conducted in the rural parishes of Saquisilí Canton and aimed to determine the prevalence of avian infectious bronchitis (IBV) in backyard poultry. This is a highly contagious viral disease, which can present mild or severe symptoms that cause permanent damage. Its etiological agent is the infectious bronchitis virus gammacoronavirus, a type of coronavirus can be transmitted directly or through fomites. In severe cases, it causes irreversible damage that can lead to economic losses. Additionally, it causes problems in the surrounding areas as the producer is unaware of proper sanitary management measures. A total of 150 backyard poultry of different ages, 112 females and 38 males, were sampled. The research project is quantitative, descriptive with a cross-sectional, non-experimental design. The indirect ELISA test was used for the detection of antibodies to the disease, in which 127 positive and 23 negative samples were obtained. Based on the results, a prevalence of 84.67% was obtained in the rural parishes of Saquisilí Canton. For the analysis of associated factors, the chi-square statistical test was used, revealing no significant relationship between these factors and the positive cases. The epidemiological map was developed based on the positive cases within each rural parish.
