In this way, we sought to understand the benefits and challenges of cultural tourism in the locality, contributing to its sustainable development and strengthening its cultural identity. The purpose of the research is to develop an online cultural catalog. Therefore, a study of the positive and negative impacts was carried out based on the demand of tourists for the most relevant festivities that the parish hosts. Qualitative and quantitative methodologies were used, which was reflected in the situational diagnosis of the cultural aspects through a bibliographic/documentary analysis and the tourism diagnosis through the survey technique that was carried out to the direct beneficiaries, with fifty eight respondents, resulting in positive impacts both in the economic and socio-cultural areas, highlighting the improvement of infrastructure, facilities for the development of tourism activities, cultural exchange with visitors, and the revitalization of traditions and cultural heritage. In addition to the negative impacts, it was noted that the tourism sector was affected and still suffers the consequences of the pandemic and post-pandemic COVID-19 for suspending the activities for competition in the area. However, the lack of knowledge or communication regarding the programs developed for the cultural part was evident. Finally, an online cultural catalog was created with general and detailed information on the cultural heritage of the parish of La Merced, becoming a tool for the protection of cultural identity, besides experiencing the cultural and historical richness of the area.
