    Prevalencia de bronquitis infecciosa en aves de traspatio en el cantón Latacunga.

    The current research project had as objective to determine the Prevalence of Avian Infectious Bronchitis (IBV) in backyard birds in the rural parishes of Latacunga town. 150 blood samples from backyard birds were randomly collected and analyzed by indirect ELISA method to detect the presence of antibodies against IBV in blood serum. The results revealed the prevalence of the disease among the different parishes. The parishes of San Juan de Pastocalle and Toacaso showed the highest prevalence, with 66.7%. The analysis also addressed the influence of variables including bird age, immunization, management system, bird acquisition, general health and seasonality on the prevalence of IBV through owner surveys. The results highlighted a significant relationship between positive outcomes and seasonality, with a p-value of 0.000989226. The geographic distribution map confirmed that the areas in the north of the town, such as Toacaso and Mulaló, had a higher concentration of positive cases, while the areas in the middle and lower part, such as Aláquez and Poaló, showed a lower presence of the disease.
