The proposed methodology has the potential to bring about significant positive changes in the parish. It identifies and evaluates the environmental problems that exist in the parish due to the different activities that take place in the area. The methodology used has a qualitative and bibliographic approach to data collection. This made it possible to identify the environmental problems and analyze the qualities of the different people with the help of Atlas.Ti 24 software was used to obtain information from interviews with five authorities. In order to obtain specific data on environmental problems, the parish was visited, and a survey of 15 questions was administered to the inhabitants of the parish. The current situation of the study area was determined by making maps and compiling bibliographical information. Sustainability indicators were analyzed, applying the PER model, indicating the ‘pressure’ exerted on the indicator, the ‘state’ it is in, and the improvement actions proposed as a ‘response.’ As for the results, the characterization of the study area is presented, and the analysis of sustainability indicators is performed through the application of the PER model, which focuses on the following fundamental aspects: environmental, economic, and social. In terms of the proposed methodology, the identification of 38 sustainability indicators is highlighted: 21 are environmental, highlighting the consumption of water for agriculture; 5 are economic, representing the unemployment rate; and 12 are social, indicating the lack of citizen participation in environmental education activities. Finally, improvement actions are established to help remedy, prevent, and preserve natural resources, promoting good environmental practices and new sustainable strategies. It also stresses the importance of strengthening local policies to help authorities make responsible decisions to promote sustainable development in the parish. The implementation of sustainable indicators will improve and strengthen the conservation of natural resources and the quality of life of the people, bringing hope for a better future.
