This research project focuses on analyzing the relationship between leadership and employee motivation among the employees of Segment 1 Savings and Credit Cooperatives in Latacunga Canton. The problem is manifested in various studies that identify that a significant percentage of these cooperatives have experienced negative effects due to the absence of defined leadership styles, which have limited the decision-making capacity of their employees, directly affecting their motivation, productivity, and work performance. The methodology used in this study is quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional. A non-probabilistic convenience sampling was used, working with the entire population of 105 employees. For data collection, two questionnaires were applied: one addressed to managers to assess leadership style and the other to identify employee motivation levels. The results indicate that the predominant leadership style is democratic. It was also observed that motivation levels varied according to the leadership style applied. In conclusion, the importance of leaders implementing appropriate leadership styles and delegating effectively is highlighted, as higher levels of employee motivation depend on this. This, in turn, contributes to increased productivity and performance of credit unions.
