The objective of this research was to analyze how leadership influences the work performance of employees of different commercial entities in the canton of Valencia, in order to identify the most effective leadership styles and their impact on job satisfaction and work environment. This study arose from the problem that some companies in the canton of Valencia may have an ingrained organizational culture that does not favor the adaptation to new leadership approaches, and to overcome this resistance. To achieve the proposed objective, a mixed approach was used, using qualitative techniques such as observation and interview, quantitative, because data collection was carried out through the use of techniques such as the survey and instruments such as the questionnaire which was applied to an owner of a small and medium enterprise and employees of SMEs, making the sampling based on the number of companies by business activities. The results showed the prevalence of a democratic-transactional leadership, as well as the consolidation of effective leaders in the different companies of the canton Valencia need a balance between technical and interpersonal skills to successfully lead their organizations, adaptability allows these leaders to respond quickly to market changes and internal needs, ensuring the continuity and growth of the business. The statistical analysis expressed an incidence between leadership and labor performance of SMEs, which was corroborated with an index of 0.974 that exemplifies a correlation of great magnitude, which expressed the interdependence between these variables.
