- Item“Análisis de la economía circular como desarrollo sostenible en el Gad Municipal del cantón Mejía, año 2024”.(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi: (UTC), 2024-08) Quimba Tipan, Lizbeth Vanessa; Rocha Angamarca, Xiomara Nicole; Clavijo Cevallos, Manuel PatricioThe research topic is the analysis of the circular economy as sustainable development in the Municipal GAD of Mejía Canton, 2024, focusing on its potential as a solution to the generation of organic and inorganic waste in the canton. The objective of this research is was to evaluate how the implementation of the Circular Economy can contribute to the sustainable development in the Municipal GAD of Mejía Canton, in order to address the issue of organic and inorganic waste generation. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, which included a literature review examining relevant studies and documents about circular economy, sustainable development, classification of organic and inorganic waste, as well as the legal framework. Geographic information tools were used to locate the study area. Additionally, interviews were conducted with five professionals working at the Municipal GAD of Mejía Canton; these interviews were coded using Atlas TI version 24 to obtain network diagrams. A diagnosis was developed at the GAD to identify strengths, opportunities, and challenges associated with the Circular Economy, and to analyze the current policies on the subject. The analysis of the results showed that the Mejía Canton has adopted an effective strategy to promote sustainable development, improving the quality of life of its residents. The results of the interviews indicated that 45% of the professionals mentioned that the implementation of the Circular Economy has reduced the amount of waste generated through techniques such as bokashi and eco-friendly posts, while 55% highlighted the importance of ongoing training for the population. The research concludes that Mejía Canton is making progress in implementing Circular Economy strategies that significantly contribute to sustainable development to the adoption of circular practices that have shown a positive impact on waste reduction and improvement in solid waste management.
