(Ecuador : Latacunga : Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC), 2024-08) Pallasco Catota, Nathaly Silvana; Rodríguez Oña, Milton Bladimir; Vizuete Achig, Marcela Patricia
The purpose of this project is to develop an automated inventory system that allows efficient control of merchandise, accurately record supplies held, reduce storage costs and optimize the purchase and sale cycle, as well as provide a technological tool that contributes to business management in a so competitive area as the retail trade. The importance of an inventory system lies in its ability to improve resource management, ensure product availability and minimize losses due to product shortages. The methodology used was based on a quantitative approach, since it allowed a physical count of the inventory to be carried out to appropriately determine the available stock. Likewise, a bibliographic, descriptive and field approach was chosen, which allowed a detailed analysis of the characteristics of the object of study. Interviews were conducted with the owner and accountant to obtain specific information on merchandise management. Structured questionnaires were also administered to employees to complement data collection. The results obtained tell that the Mc footwear business does not have an inventory system that facilitates the monitoring of incoming and outgoing merchandise, nor allows the identification of the most commercial products. The implementation of an automated inventory system made it possible to know exactly the supplies purchased and sold, and the stock balances. It was determined that the quantity of products sold in the first half of 2023 was $ 101,709.50 with a consumption value of $ 3,645,163.03 and a storage cost of 24.84 and per pair of 0.016. Regarding product profitability, the WEST brand is the most profitable, representing 23.16% of total sales with an income of $ 48,954.60, followed by the I-RUN brand with 23.07% and $ 36,668.60, and finally, the VENUS brand with 22.95% and $ 16,086.30. These data confirm the effectiveness of the new system in improving inventory management and optimizing purchasing and selling decisions.
