“Estudio de factibilidad para la creación de un centro de acopio, para la comercialización de tomates de riñón de invernadero en el barrio Salache Barbapamba del Cantón Salcedo Provincia de Cotopaxi.”
(Ecuador : Latacunga : Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC), 2024-08) Taco Taco, Nancy Fabiola; Palma Corrales, Eliana Nathalie
The project to establish a kidney tomato collection center in the Salache Barbapamba sector emerged as a solution to the economic challenges faced by local farmers in the marketing of these products. The objective was to develop a feasibility project for the creation of such a center. Using a mixed qualitative and quantitative approach, data were collected through surveys of traders and producers. The results showed a significant demand for kidney tomatoes in the local market, together with a strong acceptance of the project by the experts consulted. According to the interview, the collection center will have an estimated capacity of 200,000 kg/year. The initiative was positively valued for its potential to boost regional economic and agricultural development. In the financial study, calculations revealed that the project would be profitable. The participation of 15 founding partners contributing $1,500 each and the inclusion of new partners with an annual contribution of $250, together with a production loan to cover construction costs, ensured a solid financial base. The analysis showed a positive Net Present Value (NPV) of $62,704.79 and an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 25.25%, exceeding the Minimum Acceptable Rate of Return (MARR) of 10.52%. These figures confirmed that the project would offer a financial return in excess of the cost of funds invested, supporting its economic and financial viability. The project was presented as a feasible and promising proposal to strengthen the local agricultural economy and meet the needs of the kidney tomato market in a sustainable and profitable manner.
