- ItemEvaluación de los pesos económicos en el índice de selección del programa de mejoramiento genético sostenible de bovinos de leche de la parroquia Mulliquindil Santa Ana.(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC)., 2024-08) Tatayo Fuentes, Verónica Avigail; Yanchatipan Chasiloa, Bryan Anderson; Veloz Veloz, Dina MaricelaThe main objective of the research project was to evaluate the economic weights in the selection index of the sustainable genetic improvement program for dairy cattle in the Mulliquindil Santa Ana parish. To achieve the objective, a set of research and quantitative methodology was developed. Since, in the parish there is a lack of records and data on the animals, which generates poor results resulting in a necessary investment that exceeds the profits obtained, resulting in low profitability. The economic weights are the index for the collection of the respective data and their subsequent analysis according to the phenotype studied. To evaluate the profitability of each of the producers and estimate the economic and genetic values, several actions were carried out such as deworming, vaccination and vitaminization in order to prevent viral diseases and parasitic infections, therefore, production data and reproduction records of each animal were collected in the APP UTC gen. Through statistical analysis, the selection criteria were established, the genetic value was estimated by BLUP RUN, and the response to selection was determined by the sum of the genetic value over the phenotypic mean of the animals. The economic weights are analyzed together with the average phenotype, Estimating breeding value and response to selection to know the feasibility of genetic improvement. Starting from the average phenotype G.D.P of 301.23 g, height at withers of 130.23 cm, prediction at 305 days of 1846.67, milk density of 1.030 and days open of 100.11 days. Breeder selection through Estimating breeding value is divided into daily weight gain with Julia from an EBV of 72.73 gr, milk prediction at 305 days with Negra 2 from an EBV of 1168.47, milk density with Paty from an EBV of 0.18 in open days Suca from an EBV of 0 and height at withers with Fortuna from an EBV of 0. The answer to the selection brings us the importance of economic benefits and avoidance of losses according to the requirements of the economic weights.
