The problem focuses on the lack of professionalization and training of future teachers, since the training processes of educators fail to develop the necessary skills for teaching, as well as, in many cases, educational institutions do not have teachers professionally prepared to work in this subject. The objective of the research was to analyze the training of future teachers of Basic General Education in the area of mathematics, identifying the necessary skills that they must develop for their job performance, identifying the necessary skills for their effective performance in the classroom and promoting innovative teaching strategies that contribute to the integral development of students in the area of knowledge. The methodological design of the research was qualitative-quantitative, through the application of interview and survey techniques for teachers and students of the Basic Education Degree. The results allowed us to show that the participants agree that the training processes of future EGB graduates do not generate the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for the rigorous teaching of mathematics; the study of the contents of this area of the curriculum is not adequately deepened. For this reason, it is essential to promote self-training and continuous training processes among students to improve their level of knowledge and skills to be able to play the fundamental role required for students to achieve meaningful learning.
