Facultad de Ciencias de la Ingeniería y Aplicadas. Sistemas de Información, 2026-10-14) Toaquiza Guanochanga, Luis Armando; Quisaguano Collaguazo, Luis ReneIn this research project, a web-based virtual menu system with QR codes was developed for recording, tracking, and processing orders at the “Freedom Lounge Latacunga” restaurant, applying the Lean Software Development methodology. The research was practical, bibliographic, and field-based, using a mixed-methods approach that combined quantitative and qualitative techniques, drawing on surveys and interviews with customers and restaurant staff, in order to collect data that was analyzed and enabled the identification of the main shortcomings in the traditional order-taking and management process, such as delays in taking orders, communication errors, and a lack of control in order tracking. Based on this part of the research, the virtual menu web system with QR codes was developed as a technological solution to optimize the restaurant’s operational processes. The system was developed using technologies such as Django, Python, Bootstrap, and PostgreSQL, enabling a modern interface that adapts to different devices. The Lean Software Development methodology was applied during the project’s development, which allowed us to optimize processes, eliminate waste, and ensure deliverables focused on the restaurant’s actual needs. The results showed significant improvements in the speed of customer service, a reduction in order errors, and a more efficient and satisfying experience for customers, as validated through the SUS usability scale and a one-sample t-test.
