Ambiental, 2026-10-16) Cobos Sangoquiza, Paula Melissa; Velastegui Tapia, Vincent BenjamínThis research analyzed the hydrographic characteristics of a segment of the Pumacunchi River channel, located within the Drenajes Menores micro-watershed, through the use of drone photogrammetry. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the morphology of the river channel and identify the factors that influence its water dynamics in order to gain a better understanding of its behavior, the changes it undergoes, and the potential associated risks. For this purpose, a descriptive and exploratory methodological approach was employed. First, a literature review was conducted to establish the theoretical foundations of the research. Subsequently, data were collected using an unmanned aerial vehicle, which captured highresolution aerial images. These images were used to generate georeferenced orthomosaics and digital elevation models, which were processed and analyzed using ArcGIS, Google Earth, Pix4D Enterprise, Pix4D Capture, and HEC-GeoRAS software. Finally, the analysis focused on variables such as the width and length of the river channel, soil type, terrain slope, and susceptibility to flooding, allowing for a detailed characterization of the study area. The results revealed an elongated morphology within the study area. They also made it possible to delineate a micro-watershed covering 39,562.70 m² and a 4,452.32 m² segment of the Pumacunchi River, with a channel length of 492.51 m and an estimated volume of 18,810.02m³. The topographic analysis showed a predominance of slopes ranging from 4% to 8%, covering an area of 35,874.72 m², as well as an elevation variation between 2,705.67 and 2,732.02 m s. n. m. Meanwhile, the hydraulic modeling made it possible to delineate the areas with the highest susceptibility to flooding, confirming the usefulness of UAV photogrammetry for hydrographic characterization and risk management. It was concluded that UAV photogrammetry, integrated with GIS tools and HEC-GeoRAS, enabled an accurate characterization of the hydrographic and geomorphological conditions of the Pumacunchi River segment, facilitating the identification of flood-prone areas and generating reliable information for risk management and territorial planning.
Ambiental, 2026-10-15) Bustos Quispe, Dennis Stalin; Velastegui Tapia, Vincent BenjamínThe study, titled “Determination of Collection Rates Based on a Technical Analysis of Solid Waste Generated in Salcedo, Antonio José Holguín Parish, Cotopaxi, 2026,” aimed to assess the study area through a cadastral survey of properties in the Antonio José Holguín parish, analyze the fee amount based on the operating costs of providing the public service of comprehensive solid waste management, and draft a proposal for a municipal ordinance to collect the corresponding fee. The methodology employed was based on a mixed approach, combining descriptive and documentary methods. Information was collected through a cadastral survey, direct observation, document review, and analysis of technical, financial, and operational records provided by the Decentralized Autonomous Municipal Government of Salcedo. As a result, a total of 61,371 properties were identified in the Salcedo canton, of which 13,349 are in the urban area and 48,022 in the rural area, allowing for the updating of information based on the territory and the users. It was determined that the landfill receives 9,411.82 metric tons of solid waste per year, which represents 26.14%. The economic analysis established an annual operating cost of USD 808,398.13, a figure that reflects the resources needed to ensure the continuity of comprehensive solid waste management. Based on these results, a technically sound rate proposal was designed, establishing a monthly garbage collection fee of USD 1.15 for Category A, USD 0.64 for Category B, USD 0.48 for Category C, and USD 7.48 for Category D, equivalent to annual amounts of USD 13.80; USD 7.68; USD 5.76; and USD 89.73, respectively. In conclusion, the implementation of this fee system contributes to the financial sustainability of the service, cost optimization, and is supported by the Salcedo Municipal Ordinance.
