The conducted research explored the challenges of retaining millennial human resource in financial institutions within the popular and solidarity economy in Cotopaxi. This generation valued technology, flexibility, and purpose, seeking more than just economic stability. The lack of adequate strategies to meet these expectations resulted in high employee turnover, increased recruitment costs, and a decrease in organizational competitiveness. The main objective of the study was to propose effective strategies for retaining millennial human resource. The methodology used was quantitative, with surveys analyzed using statistical software (SPSS) to obtain precise data on the characteristics and expectations of millennials. The study employed a non-experimental, cross-sectional design, allowing for the observation of phenomena in their natural context and for conducting descriptive and analytical analysis. A validated questionnaire was used to ensure the reliability and validity of the collected data. The results revealed that implementing continuous training strategies, fostering technological innovation, promoting work-life balance, and creating an inclusive environment significantly increased the satisfaction and commitment of millennial employees. The finding was that, in order to maintain competitiveness and retain this valuable talent, financial institutions needed to adapt their policies and practices to the expectations of millennials. This approach directly benefited credit unions in Cotopaxi, as well as their employees and clients.
