    Aprovechamiento turístico de las familias botánicas ASTERACEAE y POACEAE, que se encuentran en el Campus Salache de la Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi.

    This work addresses the lack of information about the existing flora at the Salache campus and the lack of knowledge regarding its uses, with the aim of determining its respective tourism potential and potential uses. The study began with the characterization of the flora through the herbarium technique, obtaining 21 samples that are now housed in the UTCEC herbarium, comprising an equal distribution of the studied families (Asteraceae 11, Poaceae 10). Among these, species with potential tourism use in various areas were highlighted: in ancestral medicine: Ambrosia arborescens (Marco), Baccharis latifolia (Chilca), Sonchus oleraceus; in gastronomy: Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion); in aromatherapy experiences: Tagetes zypaquirensis; in crafts and handicrafts: Cortaderia hieronymi (Sigse), Jarava ichu (Paja), Bidens andicola (Ñache). Secondly, the tourism potential of the Salache campus was identified using the SIGAP (Guatemalan System of Protected Areas) methodology, revealing that the campus has medium potential due to the need for improvements in infrastructure, signage, and promotion to efficiently implement tourism. Finally, strategies were designed to utilize the campus' flora for tourism and recreational purposes. One of these activities was implemented in a pilot event themed "A reunion with past memories," focusing on the creation of kites, crafts such as baskets, and botanical pressing. It can be concluded that the floristic resources are abundant on the campus and can be utilized in various ways. Furthermore, tourism could become a mechanism for the conservation of these resources by highlighting the importance of the flora in the Salache campus of the Technical University of Cotopaxi.
