- ItemGestión de la calidad del agua superficial en la microcuenca del río Illuchi empleando la metodología de análisis de ciclo de vida corto(Ecuador: Latacunga; Universidad Técnica e Cotopaxi (UTC), 2024-08) Sailema Jiménez, Diana Maricela; Donoso Quimbita, Caterine IsabelThe objective of this study was to propose a methodology for the selection of physical and chemical parameters for the delimitation of quality monitoring plans for the Illuchi River surface water. For this purpose, a situational diagnosis was initially carried out to determine the quality of the water resource, collecting and organizing information from the monitoring campaigns belonging to the GAD Latacunga, where a total of 28 sampling points and 1,716 data corresponding to 22 parameters were delimited. Next, the maximum limits allowed for each of the physical and chemical parameters, called "inputs" in the short life cycle analysis (ACVC) methodology, were identified. For this, two sources were considered, the first based on the INEN 1108 Standard and the second as established by ANNEX I of Book VI of TULSMA according to Ministerial Agreement 097-A. Then, the environmental impacts, scales, affected categories, characterization factors and determination of the Environmental Impact Units (EIU) were delimited, with the most relevant parameters being: color (61.81%), turbidity (19.28%) and iron concentration (13.97%). Finally, the prioritization of parameters was feasible, achieving a 57.14% reduction in monitoring costs, enhancing the evaluation of the quality of the water resource and promoting at the same time a methodology that enables the efficient design of environmental monitoring plans. Based on the above, it is concluded that by identifying critical factors it is possible to contribute to the environmental management of the Illuchi River and other basins of environmental importance.
