- ItemEvaluación del Desempeño de la Sostenibilidad Multidimensional en Sistemas Productivos del Corredor Ecológico Llanganates – Sangay.(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi: (UTC), 2024-05) Ashanka Vargas, Matteo Anthony; Heredia Rengifo, Marco GerardoThe expansion of production systems is generating an ecological crisis, which is manifested in the destruction of habitat, the loss of ecosystem services, among other problems. It is essential to reach a consensus on the transition of these systems towards agroecology. The objectives were: to determine living conditions at the household level, to identify the dynamics of multidimensional sustainability performance in production systems, and to establish innovative and sustainable strategies to address agroecological performance indicators with low scores. The study was carried out in the Llanganates-Sangay Ecological Corridor. 81 surveys were conducted with mestizo (Rio Negro) and indigenous (Shell) heads of households. The methodology of the capital theory and the agroecological performance evaluation instrument (TAPE) created by FAO, based on 10 elements of agroecology, were applied. The results show that there are 60% female heads of household in Shell, while in Rio Negro it is 40%. The size of the production systems is 3.05% larger in Rio Negro than in Shell; in general terms, 84% of respondents have property titles to their farms. Of the agroecological elements evaluated, the elements that are within a threshold of 50% to 60% are: diversity, synergies, efficiency, resilience, food culture and traditions, joint creation and exchange of knowledge, human and social values, circular and solidarity economy, and responsible governance; while the recycling element in Shell's production systems is between 50% and 40%. It is essential to promote short food circuits, the implementation of regenerative practices and the integration of agroecological principles with digital technologies that lead to more sustainable and efficient systems.
