(Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC). Pujilií. Pedagogía de la Lengua y Literatura, 2026-10-23) Benavides Correa, Sashenka Anahi; Vaca Cerda, Telmo Edwin
The study evaluated the changes in the perception of 36 eighth-grade students of Basic General Education regarding their cognitive development, after using die-cut books with life stories as a teaching resource. The research adopted a quantitative, applied approach and a pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest measurements.A structured questionnaire using a Likert scale, consisting of ten items, was applied, validated by expert judgment and with high internal consistency. The results revealed a statistically significant increase in the participants' perception, rising from a weighted average score of 2.93 out of 5 in the initial diagnosis to 4.54 in the final evaluation, while the frequency of favorable responses increased from 23.3% to 99.4%.The paired samples t- test confirmed significant differences t (35) = 6,59; p < 0,01 and a large effect size d = 2,09. It was concluded that the combination of three-dimensional tactile support with contextualized narratives significantly strengthened students' perception of their attention processes, conceptual retention, and transfer of learning to daily life, suggesting for future research the use of control groups and objective performance evaluations

The implementation of innovative practices in early childhood education faces challenges related to teacher training, the availability of adequate spaces and family participation, as the home constitutes the child’s first learning environment. Objective. The purpose of this study was to diagnose the role of the family in the implementation of innovative practices in early education in public educational institutions of the Pujilí canton, considering the participation, accompaniment and perception of parents in the face of innovative pedagogical strategies. Methodology. A quantitative approach was used, with a non-experimental design, cross-sectional and descriptive scope. The sample was made up of 35 parents from five educational institutions in the Pujilí canton. A questionnaire validated by expert judgment and with a reliability of a=0.894 (Cronbach’s alpha) was applied. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, linear regression, chi-square, and ANOVA Results. It was evidenced that the family role presented a moderately high mean (M=3.64; SD=1.07); however, it did not show significant correlations with the use of ICT in the classroom (r=0.144; p=0.408) and a positive correlation between the use of ICT in the classroom and logical-mathematical learning (r=0.549 p<0,001). Conclusion. The diagnosis made it possible to characterize the participation, accompaniment and perception of families in the face of innovative practices in early education. In the sample studied, family innovative did not show a direct influence on the implementation of these practices, which suggests that the institutional context and pedagogical conditions play a relevant role in the development of educational innovation

Introduction. The integration of digital technologies in Early Childhood Education has emerged as a strategic approach to enriching teaching and learning processes. However, its implementation continues to face challenges related to technological resources, internet connectivity, and teacher professional development, which influence the development of early logical-mathematical skills. Objective. To assess the integration of digital technologies into learning processes in Early Childhood Education and analyze their contribution to the development of logical-mathematical skills. Methodology. This study adopted a mixed-methods approach with a non-experimental, descriptive, and field-based research design. The participants included three Early Childhood Education teachers selected through purposive non-probability sampling and 28 children whose performance was assessed using an observation checklist. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews and direct classroom observation. Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis, whereas quantitative data were examined through descriptive statistics, including frequencies and percentages, using IBM SPSS Statistics. Results. The findings revealed that teachers used laptops, educational videos, and digital applications as resources, promoting motivation, active participation, and the development of logical-mathematical skills, particularly classification, seriation, and pattern recognition. Classroom observations showed that 89.3% of the children correctly classified objects, 85.7% actively participated, 78.6% performed seriation tasks, 75.0% recognized patterns, and 71.4% used digital resources autonomously. Nevertheless, persistent barriers were identified, including limited technological equipment, inadequate internet connectivity, and insufficient teacher training. Conclusion. The pedagogical integration of digital technologies enhances logical-mathematical learning in Early Childhood Education when supported by intentional instructional planning and effective teacher mediation

Diagnóstico de población de cuyes con características fenotípicas deseables en las Asociaciones de productores de Amupa de la parroquia Aláquez, provincia de Cotopaxi
(Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC). Ciencias Agropecuarias y Recursos Naturales. Medicina Veterinaria, 2026-10-19) Gómez Campaña, Jhon Jimmy; Chicaiza Sánchez, Luis Alonso
The objective of this study was to identify a population of guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) with desirable phenotypic characteristics among the AMUPA producer associations in the Aláquez parish, Cotopaxi province. A mixed-methods approach with both descriptive and analytical components was used. Initially, 40 producers from the Verde Cocha, Pailatán Oriente, and Banco San Isidro sectors were surveyed to characterize local technical and production practices. Subsequently, a strategic sample of 5 producers with a genetic nucleus of 52 breeding females was selected, and morphometric measurements were recorded in the offspring at birth, at weaning (15 days), and at three months of age. The results revealed the coexistence of family-based and semi-technical rearing systems in pits and huts. The Pailatán Oriente sector showed the best overall production performance and genetic flow (weaning weights ranging from 321 to 456 g and weights at three months ranging from 899 to 1023 g); Verde Cocha, on the other hand, stood out for recording the highest individual weights (up to 1,090 g at three months) and a 0% mortality rate in one of its systems. A reddish coat color and its combinations with white predominated, a phenotype in demand for family consumption and meat marketing. It is concluded that technical and individualized management through genetic nuclei is crucial for enhancing prolificacy (litters of 3 to 4 offspring) and uniform weight gain. However, it is essential to implement continuous technical record-keeping and training programs in nutrition and biosecurity to overcome technical deficiencies in guinea pig farming in the region.

Determinación de la prevalencia de campylobacter Spp. en carne porcina de mercados de la provincia de Cotopaxi, Ecuador
(Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC) Ciencias Agropecuarias y Recursos Naturales. Medicina Veterinaria, 2026-10-20) Lema Carasayo, Erika Paola; Toro Molina, Blanca Mercedes
Pork is widely consumed throughout the country and, for that reason, is of great importance in the field of microbiological control. This is because it is a potential source of transmission for the Campylobacter spp. group of bacteria, which are responsible for causing gastrointestinal complications in humans and, consequently, pose a significant risk to public health. In this regard, the objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of this bacterium in samples of pork sold at various establishments in Cotopaxi in order to obtain up-to-date information on the public health situation. To this end, a quantitative, descriptive, observational, and cross-sectional study was conducted in which 247 meat samples collected from 38 parishes across the 7 cantons that make up the province were analyzed; these samples were processed using microbiological techniques in accordance with ISO 10272-1:2017. The data were analyzed in RStudio to determine the prevalence and evaluate the association between the presence of Campylobacter spp., the type of establishment, and the parish using inferential statistical tests; in addition, a georeferenced map of the positive and negative samples was created. The results confirm that the bacterium is present in 30 samples, with an overall prevalence of 12.15%. No statistically significant association was found between the microorganism and the type of establishment (χ² = 2.0987; p = 0.7176), but a significant association was found with the parish (χ² = 108.5; p < 0.001). The highest prevalence by canton was recorded in Saquisilí (33.3%), followed by Sigchos (29.4%) and Salcedo (20.0%). In conclusion, the presence of Campylobacter spp. in pork is a significant issue for food safety, and therefore it is necessary to strengthen its surveillance and control.
