The purpose of this research was to analyze the socioeconomic impact of tourist resorts in the El Carmen parish, La Maná canton, Cotopaxi province. The methodology employed a mixed-methods approach, specifically a descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The study sample consisted of 384 tourists over 18 years of age who visited the resorts, along with 3 owners, managers, or administrators. The interview results indicated that tourist resorts contribute to job creation in areas such as administration, kitchen staff, guest services, cleaning, maintenance, and security. However, the presence of both advantages and disadvantages also revealed that increased tourism does not always translate into sustainable growth, even though the activity generates employment, stimulates commerce, and enhances the area’s image. The study concluded that the income generated allows tourists to cover needs such as food, education, healthcare, transportation, and basic services; however, its stability depends on weekends, holidays, and peak tourist seasons. In addition, adverse effects were observed related to congestion, price increases, disruption of tranquility, waste generation, and the deterioration of natural spaces.

“Incidencia de la poesía protesta en el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico en los estudiantes”
(Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC). Pujilií. Pedagogía de la Lengua y Literatura, 2026-10-19) Cadena Valle, Vicky Elizabeth; Bocancho Sunta, Nataly Silvana; Corrales Suárez, Nelson Arturo
Protest poetry brings literary resources and social issues together, turning reading into an opportunity for interpretation, dialogue, and reasoned positioning. This study examined the incidence of a protest-poetry teaching strategy on self-reported critical-thinking indicators among 32 sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade General Basic Education students at Unidad Educativa Particular “Internacional Cotopaxi”. In this article, incidence refers to the descriptive difference between the measurements taken before and after the strategy. A quantitative, descriptive-comparative approach and a one-group pre-experimental design were used. Students completed a 16-item self-report questionnaire covering four dimensions: critical reading and social analysis; poetic interpretation and contextualization; argumentation and comparison of perspectives; and reflection on social problems. Responses were coded on a one-to-four scale and analyzed through frequencies, valid percentages, and weighted means. The pretest yielded 500 valid responses: 47.4% “never,” 45.2% “rarely,” 5.8% “frequently,” and 1.6% “always.” The posttest yielded 511 valid responses: 29.4% “frequently” and 70.6% “always.” The overall mean rose from 1.62 to 3.71 points. Higher posttest values were found for identifying social problems, understanding implicit messages, supporting opinions, comparing viewpoints, and proposing solutions. These findings describe a favorable change in self-reported indicators; however, the lack of a comparison group and participant-level records prevents a causal attribution to the strategy

Mastery of basic mathematical operations addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is fundamental in the early years of basic education, as it forms the foundation for logical and mathematical reasoning and is essential for solving everyday problems. However, students often face difficulties, lose interest, and achieve lower academic performance when taught only through traditional methods. Integrating technology into education has proven to be an innovative strategy, since interactive web applications offer dynamic, visual content adapted to each student’s pace, along with immediate feedback that helps correct mistakes. Accordingly, this project proposes the development of a web application for third-grade students at the Gustavo Iturralde Basic Education School. Its objective is to strengthen mathematical skills through practical exercises and interactive activities. Impacts include improved motivation and understanding, personalized learning, and valuable support materials for both students and teachers. The methodology combines descriptive research to identify needs with the design, development, and testing of the application. Key expected results are greater student engagement, improved speed and accuracy in solving operations, and evidence that interactive tools promote deeper, more meaningful learning.

This technological proposal involved developing a comprehensive ticketing platform to promote and manage cultural events organized by IRON PRODUCCIONES, a company based in Latacunga. The project was initiated because ticket sales, attendee registration, and entry control were previously handled manually, leading to queues, delays, disorganization, and risks of ticket counterfeiting or duplication. To address this, a web and mobile solution was developed to streamline these processes using electronic tickets and QR codes. Design Thinking was employed to understand the needs of the company, its staff, and event attendees. Project development followed the Scrum framework, utilizing user stories, specific features, and work cycles. XP practices were also implemented for testing, bug fixing, and adapting the platform to changes identified during development. The web system was built using PHP, the Android mobile application with Flutter, and the database with PostgreSQL. Communication between the platforms was handled via a REST API, facilitating data exchange and updates. The platform aims to strengthen IRON PRODUCCIONES' operations and improve public access to its cultural events. It will enable organized ticket sales, faster entry, and centralized event data management. Furthermore, it will help staff reduce errors and enhance the attendee experience before, during, and after each performance.

The disorganisation and scattered nature of physical records in the maintenance of electromechanical equipment slows down the retrieval of maintenance histories, makes it difficult to monitor maintenance work and limits visibility of workflows. In light of this problem, the research aimed to develop the GPM Industrial web module, a platform designed to structure technical information through equipment data sheets and interactive process diagrams, based on the hypothesis that its implementation would improve the organisation of maintenance information within the company. The study adopted an applied, descriptive approach with a non-experimental design. The sample was a census, comprising the three direct beneficiaries from the maintenance department and the thirty-four critical electromechanical assets listed in the inventory. The techniques employed were semi-structured interviews and direct observation, using an interview guide and a technical observation form. The development was carried out using the Extreme Programming methodology, which organised the build into user stories, iterative cycles and functional testing at the end of each sprint. The resulting platform centralises the management of companies, projects, users, technical data sheets, operational histories and an interactive diagram for the visual representation of tasks. The hypothesis was tested through expert judgement validation, the system’s usability scale and Aiken’s V-coefficient, the results of which confirmed that the objectives had been met. The solution systematises technical management by transforming scattered data into a key tool for the workshop’s operational continuity.
