    Análisis del índice de selección del programa de mejoramiento genético sostenible de bovinos de leche de los sectores: Santo Domingo, Tejar, Calvario, Mulinlivi, en el cantón Pujilí, en el periodo 2023.

    In the La Victoria parish from the Pujilí canton, Cotopaxi Province, it has been notably determined that the majority of small and medium-sized producers in the dairy industry have lack of knowledge about the correct animals management , in aspects such as: a correct feeding, nutrition, adequate animals and logs management. Therefore, the sustainable genetic improvement program was implemented in order to select the best animals and improve the profit. This was worked with 4 neighborhoods, 14 producers and 31 animals (30 females and 1 male) and just 9 bovine animals are milk producers. The proposal began with the phenotypic data collection on (GDP) daily weight gain, (PL) milk production, (DL) milk density. Sanitary calendars were also applied to ensure the animals health and optimize their yield. The average production cost in the parish is $0.24, while the sale price per liter is $0.44, with a profitability of $0.20 per liter. Obtaining an average monthly income of $104.20 on each farm. Regarding to the phenotypes, it was determined, GDP on average of 472.67 gr/day, respect to the answer to the selection, the animal breeding with the highest value was Martina from the San Pedro neighborhood with 734.98 gr/day with a precision of 44%. The milk production phenotype to 305 days averaged 5455.15 kg, respect to the answer to the selection with a highest value of 7166.96 kg with a 44% precision was the Colombian cow from San Pedro neighborhood. The average milk density phenotype is 1.028 gr/ml, with the answer to the selection with a higher value 1.027 gr/ml with a precision of 49% is the Blanquita cow from the San Pedro neighborhood.
