The use of board games has been seen as an important strategy for teaching English vocabulary in Ecuadorian schools. This study focused on analyzing the use of board games to teach vocabulary based on pre-service teachers’ experience in public and private schools in students seventh and eighth semesters of the Technical University of Cotopaxi from Pujilí Campus. The research was a qualitative study, with a descriptive method. For data collection, a semi-structured interview was used, consisting of six open questions related to the use of board games to teach vocabulary in the English Language, to eight pre-service teachers who were selected through purposive sampling. In addition, a thematic analysis technique was used for the interview, which allowed data related to the topic to be organized and described. It should be mentioned that, through the interview, the collection of data on board games provides effective teaching, attractive, and contributes to the comprehensive development of students in English language learning. Therefore, the results reveal that the use of games significantly influences vocabulary teaching and can be a powerful strategy to enrich the educational process. Board games such as flashcards, snake, map board, board hidden words, and question tables help to increase vocabulary in English language learners in a fun and interesting way.
