This research project aimed to promote folk dance to improve self-esteem in sixth-year students of general basic education at the “Manuela Iturralde” Educational Unit, Eloy Alfaro parish, Latacunga canton, school year 2023-2024. For this, the methodology of the study was guided by the positivist paradigm with a quantitative approach, using descriptive research, using a non-experimental design. In turn, the deductive theoretical method was applied, the technique was the survey with the questionnaire instrument. The population was made up of 15 students and 3 teachers. The results show that participation in folk dance activities mostly positively impacts the students' self-esteem, as it offers a means to strengthen self-esteem and interaction with others as it is a social activity. However, it is necessary to improve certain pedagogical aspects so that all students are fully enriched through this artistic activity. Therefore, the proposed interactive folk dance workshops arise “Mind and Body in harmony” with the purpose of enhancing the social skills and emotional well-being of those who practice this art.
