“La Inteligencia Emocional en el Proceso Educativo”
(Ecuador : Pujilí : Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC), 2024-08) Velasco Ramírez, Erika Mishell; Pilataxi Ayol, Favio Alexander; Barba Gallardo, Pablo Andrés
The research project explores the role of emotional intelligence in students, emphasizing its critical importance for their holistic and academic development. Understanding emotional intelligence enables the identification of different emotional skills and how these influence students' behaviour towards others. Accordingly, this research addresses the problem of how emotional intelligence affects the educational process of students. The objective of the study was to identify the emotional intelligence of students in the educational process of the Sixth grade parallel ¨B¨ of the Fiscomisional Educational Unit “La Inmaculada” in the Latacunga Canton. A quantitative approach was employed, and descriptive research was conducted to identify the characteristics of children who lack emotional intelligence. The analysis of the variables was carried out using the deductive method. The methodology involved a structured interview, which consisted of an 8-question questionnaire administered to 3 teachers. Additionally, the “Goleman” test was used as the instrument to assess emotional intelligence in 32 students. The results revealed that the children experience difficulties in managing their emotions and do not develop their emotional intelligence adequately. This lack of emotional development hinders their interest in learning, resulting in inadequate academic progress. Furthermore, the study found that teachers lack sufficient knowledge about the influence of emotional intelligence on children, which significantly impacts the students’ ability to understand and regulate their emotions, thereby affecting their personal well-being and academic performance.
