Abstract
El declive de la medicina ancestral por los avances tecnológicos de la medicina moderna desvaloriza y quebranta el conocimiento autóctono de los curanderos y curanderas que desempeñan el arte de limpiar con el cuy y hierbas medicinales, por tanto, el presente proyecto tiene como objetivo fortalecer las tradiciones y saberes ancestrales de la parroquia de San Buenaventura de la ciudad de Latacunga mediante la creación de personajes ilustrados propios del lugar aplicados en un artbook. Se aplicó las técnicas de investigación: de campo, científica, experimental y explicativa, también se analizó e interpretó información teórica y gráfica. En el proceso de diseño se utilizó el método biográfico interpretativo y la metodología de diseño de Bruce Archer, quien menciona las siguientes fases: fase analítica, fase creativa y fase ejecutiva, a su vez se subdivide en: definición del problema, obtener datos relevantes, análisis y síntesis, desarrollo del prototipo, preparar y ejecutar. Con los datos de investigación se obtuvo como resultado la estructura de un producto de diseño que contiene plantas y personajes ilustrados que narra la historia de una de las curanderas más reconocida de la parroquia de San Buenaventura de la ciudad de Latacunga. Finalmente se concluyó con varios argumentos que muestran a la medicina ancestral como un método de curación alternativo y económico, practicado por curanderos y curanderas de pueblos aledaños a la civilización. Entonces, se organizó un flujo de trabajo y se procedió a ejecutar el proyecto

The decline of the ancestral medicine due to the technological advances of the modern medicine devalues and breaks the native knowledge of the healers that perform the art of cleaning with the guinea pig and medicinal herbs, therefore, the present project has as objective to strengthen the traditions and ancestral knowledge of the parish of San Buenaventura of the city of Latacunga by means of the creation of illustrated characters of the place applied in an artbook. The research techniques were applied: field, scientific, experimental and explanatory, also analyzed and interpreted theoretical and graphic information. In the design process, the biographical interpretative method and Bruce Archer's design methodology were used. Archer mentions the following phases: analytical phase, creative phase and executive phase, which in turn is subdivided into: problem definition, obtaining relevant data, analysis and synthesis, prototype development, preparation and execution. The research data resulted in the structure of a design product containing plants and illustrated characters that tells the story of one of the most recognized healers of the parish of San Buenaventura in the city of Latacunga. Finally, it was concluded with several arguments that show the ancestral medicine as an alternative and economic healing method, practiced by healers from neighboring towns to the civilization. Then, a workflow was organized and the project was implemented.
