The objective of this research was to determine the characteristics of oca (Oxalis tuberosa) and ulluco (Ullucus tuberosus) accessions established at the Salache Campus of the Technical University of Cotopaxi. The study focused on the characterization and sustainable use of these Andean tuber crops. A quantitative and descriptive research approach was employed, using field techniques through the establishment of an experimental trial for the collection of phenological, morphological, and productive variables of the accessions. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, analysis of variance (ANOVA) of the cluster groups, Tukey’s test at the 5% significance level, and mean comparison, allowing the identification of the existing variability among the evaluated materials. The results for oca (Oxalis tuberosa) identified four cluster groups. The analysis of variance revealed significant differences in several agronomic variables. According to Tukey’s test, Cluster 4, which included the largest number of accessions, belonged to significance group A and showed average values of 15 days to sprouting, plant height of 6.52 cm, two stems per plant, stem diameter of 1.11 mm, and 20 leaves per plant. For ulluco (Ullucus tuberosus), significance ranges were also established for the evaluated variables. Cluster 4, which grouped the highest number of accessions, presented the highest values within significance group A for leaf diameter (4.07 cm), days to flowering (98.8), flower size (0.46 cm), and tuber weight (27.96 g), indicating materials with greater vegetative development and higher tuber yield. The findings of this study provide a scientific contribution to the characterization of the germplasm of oca (Oxalis tuberosa) and ulluco (Ullucus tuberosus), strengthening strategies for the conservation of plant genetic resources, the sustainable use of genetic diversity, and the development of future research aimed at the sustainable management of Andean crops in Ecuador.
