dc.description.abstractVocabulary learning is a fundamental component of acquiring a new language. However, there are factors that difficult this process, such as mother tongue interference, lack of vocabulary, pronunciation problems, and traditional teaching methods, which are not very effective. In this context, the integration of technological tools in education has proven to be an effective strategy to optimize the language teaching-learning process, such as Kahoot. The main objective of this research is to identify whether the use of Kahoot improves vocabulary learning in students of English as a foreign language at Unidad Educativa San Francisco de Asis from Salcedo Canton. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach and a descriptive design. The participants were 19 fourth-grade students. The instrument were a Pre-test to diagnose the students' knowledge and a Post-test to evidence the improvement of vocabulary learning. It is worth mentioning that the Pre-test and Post-test were adapted to the Cambridge Assessment model (A1 Beginners). The results indicated significant improvements in accurate and fluent use of vocabulary, as well as in memorization, retention, and students' ability to identify and associate words with pictures. In conclusion, the use of Kahoot not only improved vocabulary acquisition, but also increased students' motivation and active participation favored more dynamic and effective learning in the classroom. These results suggest that Kahoot is an important tool for strengthening vocabulary learning in English language teaching contexts.
