- ItemFortalecimiento de la identidad cultural de Barrio San Antonio de la Parroquia Belisario Quevedo(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi, 2024-08) Oña Cundulle, Miryan Maribel; Álvarez Lema, Freddy AnaximandroThis research addresses the weakening of cultural identity in Barrio San Antonio in the Parish of Belisario Quevedo, Ecuador, which is threatened by globalization, migration, and modernization. Despite public policies aimed at cultural preservation, traditions, festivals, and ancestral knowledge are at risk, especially among younger generations. The main objective is to strength the cultural identity among children, adolescents, and youth in Barrio San Antonio by identifying key elements of cultural identity that need preservation and developing participatory strategies that foster cultural empowerment within this group. The adopted methodology combines qualitative and participatory approaches, using an ethnographic design complemented by the guidelines of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage (INPC) to document and safeguard Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). Techniques such as semi-structured interviews, participant observation, focus groups, and documentary analysis were used to collect data. The population involved included community leaders, residents, and educators, totaling 9 participants. Findings indicate that a lack of interest and knowledge about cultural traditions among young people is a significant challenge. Factors affecting the continuity of cultural practices were identified, as well as the importance of creating intergenerational interaction spaces to facilitate the transmission of ancestral knowledge. The development of a safeguarding plan, including workshops and cultural activities, has been fundamental in engaging the community.
