There were three study areas, which were determined based on previous studies of thesis students of the Technical University of Cotopaxi. The study had a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope, applying the techniques of the interview with an instrument (questionnaire) of 5 questions asked to the presidents of the three communities, as well as direct observation using an observation sheet. The Methodology for the Evaluation of Tourism Potential of Protected Areas of the Guatemalan System of Protected Areas - SIGAP was used. As a result of the evaluation, it was found that the parish of Mulaló has a medium level of tourism potential in the areas where the Andean fox is present. Likewise, a SWOT analysis was developed using matrices like MEFE, MEFI, crossed, and strategic analysis in order to propose 5 improvement strategies, which were divided according to the deficiencies of the areas and dimensions. This research showed that there is potential in tourism, allowing the community to develop locally, as well as nationally and internationally, obtaining significant economic, social and environmental benefits
