- ItemAnálisis de la sostenibilidad y competitividad de las empresas turísticas de hospedaje del cantón Pujilí, provincia de Cotopaxi.(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC)., 2024-08) Ilaquiche Toaquiza, Wilmer Moises; Mendoza Poma, Rodolfo MatiusThis research project focuses on the sustainability and competitiveness of tourism accommodation businesses, with the objective of analyzing the lodging businesses in Pujilí Canton, Cotopaxi Province, through indicators that allowed for the proposal of development and improvement strategies for the service. The study was based on two methodologies: the InnovaRSE Methodology and the IDB Methodology, using the deductive method to infer and conclude on the indicators, ultimately to address the established scientific questions. A population of 13 registered establishments in the cadastre was studied, so sampling was not necessary. The results regarding sustainability determined an index of 5.64 on a scale of 5 to 10, indicating a moderately low level of sustainability. As for competitiveness, a general result of 30.11% was obtained, placing it within a range of 21% to 40%, categorized as low. The results, based on a Spearman correlation using SPSS software, indicate that the sustainability and competitiveness variables of the tourism accommodation businesses in Pujilí Canton have a significant correlation of 0.21. This suggests that if businesses do not apply one of these variables, they may fail, as these variables must go hand in hand to stand out in the tourism market due to a correlation strength of 63.2%. Additionally, it indicates that these variables should be considered integrally and effectively addressed to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage in the tourism market. Finally, a SWOT analysis was conducted using MEFE, MEFI, cross matrices, impact evaluation, valuation, and strategy matrices, where 20 improvement strategies were analyzed and proposed. These strategies were divided based on deficiencies in sustainability dimensions and competitiveness areas. In conclusion, by proposing improvement strategies, businesses can compete and achieve greater growth at the local level
- ItemPropuestas de recuperación de los espacios naturales con fines turísticos en el Campus Salache(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC)., 2024-08) Toapanta Molina, Nohely Abigail; Andrade Ayala, Andrea IsabelThe research project is carried out due to the lack of maintenance and little planning for the use of the natural spaces on the Salache campus, which is why we propose strategies for the recovery of natural spaces for tourism purposes. This information was used to construct the PESTEL matrix. The political factors include the approval and execution of projects on the campus, economic factors include investment to improve infrastructure, social factors include the development of tourist and cultural activities, technological factors include free access to the internet, ecological factors include the protection of the ecosystem in sensitive areas, and legal factors include regulations that facilitate the processes. In constructing the SWOT matrix, the green areas that can be used and the support of the University Tourism Center project for the execution of activities stand out as strengths, and among the weaknesses are the lack of coordination to receive visitors during the holiday season and the lack of inclusive access to the spaces. With this, the external assessment matrices were constructed with a total of 2.63, which is in the average to be able to take advantage of the opportunities that have allowed the tourism activity to develop at an average level, and the internal assessment with a total score of 2.28, which indicates that the campus is 0.22 tenths below the average, indicating that despite having a limitation of weaknesses, there are strengths that can be strengthened through strategies to improve the recovery processes. Finally, the strategic matrix was drawn up, in which the following stand out: Increasing the tourist signage so that visitors have a better experience within the Salache Campus, maintaining a permanent planning of tourist events and activities for leisure and recreation in order to be known at a local and national level. It can be concluded that natural areas can be used for tourism, leisure and recreational activities, but for this it is necessary to generate a planning that promotes the execution of activities in an adequate and sustainable way.
- ItemEvaluación del potencial turístico en los sectores de registro del zorro andino (lycalopex culpaeus reissii) de la parroquia de Mulaló, cantón Latacunga.(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC)., 2024-08) Muñoz Carrasco, Nicole Estefanía; Quiroz Benalcazar, Nayeli Maricela; Álvarez Lema, Freddy AnaximandroThe objective of this research project was to evaluate the tourism potential in areas where the presence of the Andean fox was recorded, located in the parish of Mulaló, Latacunga canton, province of Cotopaxi. There were three study areas, which were determined based on previous studies of thesis students of the Technical University of Cotopaxi. The study had a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope, applying the techniques of the interview with an instrument (questionnaire) of 5 questions asked to the presidents of the three communities, as well as direct observation using an observation sheet. The Methodology for the Evaluation of Tourism Potential of Protected Areas of the Guatemalan System of Protected Areas - SIGAP was used. As a result of the evaluation, it was found that the parish of Mulaló has a medium level of tourism potential in the areas where the Andean fox is present. Likewise, a SWOT analysis was developed using matrices like MEFE, MEFI, crossed, and strategic analysis in order to propose 5 improvement strategies, which were divided according to the deficiencies of the areas and dimensions. This research showed that there is potential in tourism, allowing the community to develop locally, as well as nationally and internationally, obtaining significant economic, social and environmental benefits
- ItemAprovechamiento turístico de las familias botánicas ASTERACEAE y POACEAE, que se encuentran en el Campus Salache de la Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi.(Ecuador: Latacunga: Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC)., 2024-08) Toaquiza Chaluisa, Gladys Mónica; Zhingri Llumitaxi, Maricela Alexandra; Andrade Ayala, Andrea IsabelThis work addresses the lack of information about the existing flora at the Salache campus and the lack of knowledge regarding its uses, with the aim of determining its respective tourism potential and potential uses. The study began with the characterization of the flora through the herbarium technique, obtaining 21 samples that are now housed in the UTCEC herbarium, comprising an equal distribution of the studied families (Asteraceae 11, Poaceae 10). Among these, species with potential tourism use in various areas were highlighted: in ancestral medicine: Ambrosia arborescens (Marco), Baccharis latifolia (Chilca), Sonchus oleraceus; in gastronomy: Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion); in aromatherapy experiences: Tagetes zypaquirensis; in crafts and handicrafts: Cortaderia hieronymi (Sigse), Jarava ichu (Paja), Bidens andicola (Ñache). Secondly, the tourism potential of the Salache campus was identified using the SIGAP (Guatemalan System of Protected Areas) methodology, revealing that the campus has medium potential due to the need for improvements in infrastructure, signage, and promotion to efficiently implement tourism. Finally, strategies were designed to utilize the campus' flora for tourism and recreational purposes. One of these activities was implemented in a pilot event themed "A reunion with past memories," focusing on the creation of kites, crafts such as baskets, and botanical pressing. It can be concluded that the floristic resources are abundant on the campus and can be utilized in various ways. Furthermore, tourism could become a mechanism for the conservation of these resources by highlighting the importance of the flora in the Salache campus of the Technical University of Cotopaxi.
